Basic Curbside Collection Service And Regulations

You May:

Place up to six cans (under 39 gallons in volume), bags or bundles - each weighing less than 50 lbs. at the curb for collection on your two weekly garbage pick up days. Garbage collections begin at 6 a.m. Place can curbside no earlier than the evening before collection. Town Code also requires garbage cans be stored behind the front line of the dwelling on non-collection days.

Place up to four bulk items at the curb on your second garbage collection day of the week. A bulk item is any object (other than appliances and large metal items) weighing more than 50 lbs. or larger than 2 x 2 x 4 feet. If you live in areas 17 or 19 telephone (631) 351-3239 to schedule pick up of bulk items.

Call your carter to arrange pick up of appliances and large metal items. Please do not place items at the curb until the night before your scheduled pick up collection date. If you are in areas 17 or 19, call 351-3239 to schedule pick up.

Place recyclables at the curb for collection on Wednesdays - paper one week and mixed recyclables the next - according to the calendar. Remember ... your Wednesday recycling day changes during holiday weeks so please consult the calendar for the pick up day. Recycling collections begin at 5 a.m.

Place cans or bundles of yardwaste at the curb for collection on the weeks indicated by a on your calendar. Branches must be tied in bundles no larger than 2 x 2 x 4 feet; leaves and clippings must be bagged or placed in cans. (Grass will not be collected!!)

You May Not:

Place more items at the curb than this schedule allows. It is a violation of the Town Code.

Place cans larger than 39 gallons in volume at the curb for collection OR fill any can or bag with more than 50 lbs. of garbage. It is a violation of the Town Code..

Place large amounts of remodeling or construction debris at the curb. For amounts exceeding your collection service limits, ou must make alternate disposal arrangements. (Either self-haul or hire a roll-off.)

Place items at curbside prior to the evening before your scheduled collection day. It is a violation of the Town Code.
